How oxygen reaches your cells
Haemoglobin carries most of the oxygen. But cells only take it in dissolved form.
Every oxygen molecule your cells use arrives in dissolved form. Haemoglobin is the carrier; dissolved oxygen is the delivery.
The oxygen pressure that drives oxygen from the capillaries into tissue is set by dissolved oxygen. As it is used up, haemoglobin releases more to take its place.
